Wings to Soar presented a educational program for the general public that was sponsored by the Friends of Wheeler Society. This program presented various species of the Raptors which help keep our environment of wildlife strong and healthy. As you can see in the photos the various raptors shown during the program and flown from point-to-point within the auditorium just above sitting level of the attendees. Also presented for appreciation was a Bald Eagle who has been cared for by permit after a person shot at it and hit the bird in the wing.. This injury caused this magnificent symbol of our Nation to have the left wing amputated. Even with this so called "hunter's" dis-regard for our National Bird's welfare....this eagle has more character and grit than the fool that was behind the gun. So far this year, in our area, we have lost several non-game protected species because the "want-a-be-hunters" do not learn sportsmanship and the responsibility of knowing what is a food source and what is not a food source for mankind. Killing not for food and killing with no justified motive just to kill is a cowards way of life and not the code of a real Hunter.
