Aquaculture in Developing Nations - "When I was hungry...."

Many years ago, i wanted to help people learn how to feed themselves by raising fish and so I went to school in the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture led by the charismatic Dr. Homer Swingle. That was his dream as well and I knew I was in the right place. Decades later I had the opportunity to teach small scale farmers in Zambia through Peace Corps how to build fish ponds and raise fish with almost no resources to feed their families and make a little money for clothes, medicine, school. After Peace Corps, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) sent me to a number of developing countries through their Farmer-to-Farmer program to help them with their aquaculture program. A Jesuit friend of mine sent me to Zimbabwe to help some nuns he knew there feed the hungry coming to their door every day for food. This gallery and its sub galleries is my photographic journey with these projects. Consider using your skills, knowledge and talent in the Farmer-to-Farmer program ( http://www.usaid.gov/our_work/agriculture/farmer_to_farmer.htm), Peace Corps ( http://www.peacecorps.gov/), or some other way to teach people how to feed, clothe, and shelter themselves.
