Stockholm, built on 14 islands with a medieval city centre, home of the Nobel Prize and Green Capital, 2010.
It is midsummer and Sweden is embracing almost twenty-four hours of sunshine. Our home exchange this time is a comfortable, modern apartment at Grondal, above Lake Malaren, just a few kilometres from Stockholm city. Our windows, high above this huge expanse of water, have a 180 degree view of the waterway, the shores opposite, the city towers above small coves and marinas in one direction and one of the many huge bridges linking the islands of which this city consists, in the other direction.
We explore our own area, take ferry trips or a convenient tram to the city and other islands, shop happily in Swedish supermarkets and stores for new and exciting produce and enjoy another new country. See my blog!
