2 Weeks in Nova Scotia

These are pictures from a 2 week journey we took thru Nova Scotia during July of 2001. We flew from Charlotte, NC to Portland, ME, drove to Bar Harbor,ME and then caught the high speed Cat Ferry to Yarmouth on the SW tip of Nova Scotia. We put over 2000 miles on a Kia Sportage 4x4 which we had rented. Roads were rough in Nova Scotia but the scenery was spectacular. We were fortunate to have splendid weather throughout the trip.

Beautiful shots- you've captured it well. I grew up in Marion Bridge, Cape Breton (near the Fortress of Louisbourg) and in Dartmouth.
You need to make another trip or two to take in all of the scenary there, though. : )

These have brought back some wonderful memories. My brother moved to Canada two years ago not far from Bear River (wonderful cafe near the house on stilts)and we went there last August. It is a fantastic place and the people are so friendly great community spirit. We did the Cabot trail in three days, a lot of driving but well worth it. We got the ferry across to Brier Island, the weather was very kind to us. I wish we were going back there again this year.

My husband and I just returned to Chicago from 2 weeks in Nova Scotia. I was teary as the ferry left Yarmouth, and I still haven't quite lost the sadness I felt at leaving such a wonderful place. Thank you so much for helping me keep my memories alive with your beautiful photos. Our weather during our days on the Cabot Trail was magnificent, but it was drizzly at Hopewell Rocks (NB).

I thank you for the beautiful pictures of Long & Briar Island NS. I grew up in Freeport(Long Island) and often take an "online vacation" there. I love the people, the beauty and the history.

Thanks for the great pictures. My wife and I have traveled through Nova Scotia twice and it's a wonderful place. VERY civilized with real nice people. Your pictures brought back great memories. We also took the Digby ferry like you did, and stepped over the same places you did, Thanks again,

Thanks for your message in my Peggy's Cove gallery. It was indeed diffcult to take a clean shot of the lighthouse. My friend told me the hundreds of visitors there reminded him of inhabitants of some bird colony! :)
I greatly enjoyed your beautiful shots of Nova Scotia. If you like small fishing settings in the Atlantic Province, you might also consider visiting the Madeleine Island that is about 4-hour ferry ride from the PEI. I was glad to view your gallery of pictures especially Shelburne.I grew up there and living away from home for 20 some years ,it is nice to see that people love it like we do.
there is no nicer place in Canada like Nova Scotia.I miss home

Great pics of a truly beautiful place. I just finished a similar trip, and have some pictures that may bring back fond memories of Nova Scotia.

I was very impressed with your webpage it is beautiful. It was very nice to see that my
Father's "Replica of the Maud Lewis House " was in there. The Replica is on Route #217, which is located on Digby Neck five minutes from Down Town Digby. The replica is not on the original site, which is in Marshalltown on the Highway #101. On which the government has put a memorial there. We have visitors from places as far as Japan so far...everyone enjoys hearing a few stories about Maud and entering the house to get the feeling for how small their home was. Maud was a remarkable lady and will always be Remembered. My Father "Murray Ross" built the house because he felt inspired by Maud and wanted to keep her memory alive, in which he is doing very well.

Great pictures of Nova Scotia..I live here and feel that it is a beautiful part of the world...
The picture where you refer to as a bandshell in Halifax Park is called the Halifax Public Gardens....just thought you may want to change the name of that pic....
The Public Gardens is one of Halifax's major tourist attractions,along with the Old Town Clock,which you also took a nice shot of.
