one of my favorite municipal statues, the triumphant General Andrew Jackson, graces New Orleans' best known square, named for this city's defender during the War of 1812
Clark Mills, a NY sculptor, built this in 1853 for Lafayette Square in Washington, DC
another was requested by New Orleans for its Place D'Arms which was renamed after its hero
the inscription reads, "The Union Shall And Must Be Preserved"
