Built into a complete car in 80's by Polak team using different components
In the 90's, still in White color but fins / spoiler installed
After Vasek Polak died in 1997, 917-044 was purchased by car dealer Symbolic Motors
Symbolic Motors "re-created" it as a Replica of the "Hippie car"
1998 : Offer for sale at Christie's Auction, result : Not Sold
Later 917-044 was swaped with 2 cars from Fred Simeone (S-series Mercedes Tourer and a Cunningham C-3 coupe)

917-044 and 917-045 tubular frames were initally built in 1970 as reserve chassis for the 1970 racing season.
For the 1971 racing season, 917-044 retained its function as a reserve and 917-045 was used by Wyer.
