What?

This jay was meowing and imitating the "Danger, ground foe!" blackbird call to scare the other birds. He was so convincing I kept looking for the cat at first. :-) During this "lie", he assumed this "tilted" posture (it's not the camera!), his pupils were small and he raised his head feathers, obviously agitated. But he succeeded, he had the feeder all to himself after that lie.

Your understanding of avian behavior is inspirational, as is the beautiful photo.

I've been trying to capture the facial expressions of birds. They have a lot to offer.
