Glenfinnan Monument

In 1745 the Jacobite Rising began here when Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) raised his standard on the shores of Loch Shiel. Seventy years later the 60 ft high Glenfinnan Monument - at the head of the loch - was erected to commemorate the historic event.

Wow, I just stare at this scene in wonder. I wonder how do you get the layers to stand out, i.e. 3 D effect? Do you suppose it happens due to each layer of distance gets more hazy? Almost airbrushed? Does a certain plug in help? The way the light shines on those hills is so beautiful. Linda S

Ann, I see again why you love Scotland so much! This is a gorgeous landscape, prompting me to go the Wikipedia to read about Bonnie Prince Charlie ;~). They must have gotten that name from the costumes / hairdo's they wore!

Not being familiar with the Brits I'm always surprise at how far they forced their control! I tend to just think about our battle with them here in the USA. It seems, but I'm naive Ann, that the Scots fared better than the Irish?

Thank you for the wonderful image and enlightening context!
