Pienza and Montalcino photos. After Montepulciano, during which we visited Cortona, we then went to Pienza, visited Montalcino and its fortress, and ended the day at Siena. Will label photos after uploading full 3 weeks.

Cortona (to be moved to Montepulciano gallery later) |
Revisiting Pienza (too crowded on previous Sunday) |
Many homes and stores have plants outside. |
Another hilltown with gorgeous panoramic views |
Pienza countryside |
At 190mm |
At 300mm (will delete this or previous one) |
BLURRED. But I liked his face. |
School group on tour |
Toward the church, no crowds for once |
Thought this sort of incongruous and liked it |
On path to church |
Church in Pienza |
(Cropping would remove too much in the wrong places.) |

From the road, below |
Just stopped to see this. |

Nearby |
Rocca d'Orcia and Castiglione d'Orcia, seen from the road |
From the car, approaching Montalcino, fortress at left |
Fortress at Montalcino |
What first level viewing area above looks like |
Nice umbrella! Others enjoying the town below (300mm zoom) |
Scenes of Montalcino from fortress's lower viewing-area |
Just other photo buffs at viewing area |
Siena landscape is so gorgeous all around. |
What we saw from that level |
Then went up these stairs - no handrail on ladder to roof |
First scene seen from turret |
An older Montalcino street |
Looking down at top of lower wall's viewing-area |
More bird's eye from here. |
My own turret. Going down ladder w/o handrails was harder. |
Ecstatic. Obviously I don't go up these things much. |
More from the turret |
Not as dramatic as the next one but with more natural colors |
Switched to Rebel, with colors at wrong ISO 400 |
Great view from up there but used wrong ISO |
Back to Elph s410 with correct ISO setting |
Modern day Montalcino from my higher turret |
Fortress courtyard |
Montalcino church's children did crucifixion-resurrection scenes. |
I liked the sunny one and Jesus' eyes on the cross. |
On way to Siena |
Tuscany terrain's a bit more varied than I expected. |
From the car, just a dramatic sky |
Typical Tuscany light on landscape |
Arrival at Siena lodgings! |
Cafe area at Siena lodgings |

Delivered in flames, but camera not ready. (What is it?) |
Happiness |
I can't get enough of spaghetti. Ever imaginative. |
