Old Photos

Photos (some of them very old) from Dad's garage. Scanned professionally, but as yet not worked on in Photoshop, so quality will get better. Big question: WHO ARE THEY? As Dad's brother Peter says he doesn't recognize any of the old photos, one must assume they are from Mum's side of the family.

Nana and Andrew. She's has on one of the wrap-around pinnies she always used to wear.
Kim adds: Nana & me probably in front of Grannie’s place in Stoney Lane, Winchester (because we didn’t move to Watton till I was a bit older & anyway there was no fences at the front in Watton; and Nana’s place in Fair Oak had fields opposite).  What is Nana holding in her right hand?  Looks like the end of someone’s dick!!!  Judging by the plants and trees it’s full summer so I guess I’m 20-ish months old and it’s July/August 1949.

Grannie with Mum
Kim adds: Grannie holding Mum for a christening photograph perhaps in a studio (see curtain behind – though perhaps not with stairs in bottom left corner.  This would have been in July/Aug/Sept 1923 as baby is able to support own head; so Mum 3 or 4 months old (born 2/6/23) and Grannie still only 18 years old as she was born 2nd October 1904.

Mum & Alex with Janey on St Catherine's Hill, Winchester
Kim adds:   Alex, Mum, me seated at front.  Not sure if toddler is you or other lady is Grannie – doesn’t look like her nor does it look like Auntie Janie nor Jeremy.  Wonder who photographer was; Dad?  I must be around 6, so summer 1954?

George Ullyat Brook (Grannie's dad), my maternal great-grandfather. Our 2 sons are named after him; one is Lewes Ullyat, the other is Liam George (George was also my paternal great-grandfather's name)
Kim adds: Granddad’s grave in the cemetery on the outskirts of Fair Oak.  I went there in August 2000 and somehow found the grave within about ½hr. It’s got Nana in plus extra words and is in a bit of a sorry state.  I meant to return and clean it up but haven’t yet.  The headstone and surround are laying over a good bit because the stacked coffins beneath have rotted and collapsed.
