However the external aspect has wonderfully retained its old looks, a little bit out of place with the glass and concrete monstrosities that surround it but what the hell it was there first and deserves to stand out from the bland crowd....9/10
.
C2C get 8/10 also.....I am in a generous mood today! But again it was on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
.
So that was it for day 1. back to Paddington via the Hammersmith and City line...nice tube trains....to the Grand Park Hotel ready for the morning trip to Devon.
.
The hotel was getting a 7/10 (no bath only a shower, furniture a little tired but big room, comfy bed and a/c brought it back up) but the domestic row on our floor in the early hours which required the local constabulary to attend did knock it back to a 6/10.
Dinner or "tea" as Northerners call it was taken at a local Lebanese restaurant....6/10. very confusing service, part of main course brought with the starter and my chicken could have been cooked a little longer.....and alcohol free.
Hence the trip after tea to the Victoria pub, featured in the good beer guide. Good atmosphere, good selection of beer and original fixtures and fittings....8/10
