Something about the Tokugawa's shrine at Zojoji always brings me back - perhaps it's the stereotypical traditional architecture of the buildings, but maybe it's also the perfect juxtaposition of old and new, with the Tokyo Tower looming mightily in the background and office towers rising ominously all around.
Tokyo gave me rather a grey day to photograph this otherwise colorful complex, with it's vivid red shrine. Zojoji is a reconstruction, completed in the 1970's, of the original structure. WW2 firebombings accounted for the more recent need for reconstruction.
