Kamakura

One of Japan's ancient capitals, home to innumerable temples and shrines, as well as the well known large outdoor buddha, "Daibutsu," or great Buddha. You can actually pay a very small fee to go inside the statue - at least 20 people could fit inside the statue, which is about 41 feet high. It's quite a nice hike from the train station - one doesn't just hop off the train and snap a picture. And it's far from the only attraction here, as many other beautiful shrines can be found all over the map of this ancient, but very bustling little city.
