Just past Labor Day, but still officially summer,
we thought to make one last visit to the shore,
to battle the waves roaring in from distant storms
and there've been a lot of them this season,
but alas the weather was cloudy and cool,
and so only I ventured into the water, while
everyone else shuddered and huddled under blankets.
