We helped and greatly enjoyed our friends Amr and Yumi celebrate their birthdays with friends at
various local DC area eateries and pool halls (well, the same pool hall, Dr Dremo's...)
Amr's Birthday:
On a school night for the rest of us, but the beginning of Amr's midweek 'weekend,'we gathered together to celebrate the 67th anniversary of Amr's misconception, er, birthday! Starting with delicious dinner at the back of the building, hole in the wall, Cafe Tirolo, who plied us with excellent Austrian-Italian fare, we laughed and disported ourselves all evening. We even met someone else celebrating his birthday at the restaurant too! Moving to Dr. Dremo's, the former Olmsted Oldsmobile dealership famous for morphing into Bardo Rodeo in the Clarendon section of Arlington, VA, we shot stick for many more hours crowning our own inter-amici billiards champion in the process...yours truly! ; ) Suffice to say that all but the two designated drivers were feeling a tad giddy, with our self-proclaimed champion imbiber at least half blind from the beer and wine that flowed freely.
Yumi's Birthday:
We had so much fun celebrating Amr's birthday that we went out and had even more fun celebrating Yumi's birthday a few weeks later, with an even larger crowd of friends. Dinner at Thai Square, favorite eatery of both Yumi and Amr, was followed by beer, billiards and conversation once again at Dr. Dremo's. Great time!
