Oh, I like the dirtyness of the string. This has been used a lot. Nice use of a shallow depth of field.

I would call it a plumb-bob. I used to use one to make sure my "string-line" was set the right distance from the undamaged side of a car that had been in an accident. Then I'd use it to measure the damage from the "string-line" to the bumper or whatever--the so-called "crush." Cool job but had a morbid down-side.

Interesting "theme" this week, Ian--work tools. I may have to try it.

Not sure if it's called the same thing in England, but I say it's a plumb-bob.
