With Felicia and Ted (1938)

My mother’s older sister stands behind my parents in this photo. On my father’s lap is Felicia’s son, Ted. Felicia’s husband, Simon, a physician, was an officer in the Polish Army. He was taken prisoner with 4,000 other officers when the Soviet Union invaded Poland in September 1939 and murdered by the Soviet NKVD at Katyn Forest in Russia in 1940. Felicia and Ted were sent to a camp in a remote village in the Soviet Union, where they managed to survive the war. They came to the U.S. in 1950. Ted later became a physician. He’s now retired and lives in Texas. Felicia died several years ago.

To valsunlina:shame on You!
First-You have not even basic knowlage of history.
Second -You are rude.
How German could occupied Poland in 1947,when it lost war in 1945?
And Soviet Union attacked Poland on September 17 1939.Half of Poland was occupied by Russian until June 1941,when German attacked Soviet Union.

Sorry, Valsunlina, I am afraid you are the one who is confused. The Soviet Union invaded Poland from the East on September 17, two and half weeks after Germany had invaded from the West. You can read an account of the Katyn Massacre athttp://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/cold.war/episodes/01/spotlight/.
