We were up early this morning to take a coach trip to the Cinque Terre ("the 5 Lands") in Liguria, departing from Piazza Adua on the east side of Firenze's Santa Maria Novella railway station.
This building stands at the intersection of Piazza Adua (where I am, looking roughly ENE), the Via Fiume (roughly, "River Street" - even though it doesn't seem to go anywhere near the river - running across to my right), and Via Bernardo Cennini (named after a goldsmith, sculptor and early printer who lived in Firenze in the 1400s, straight ahead).
I don't know what this building is, but it may well be private residences. The one behind that is the 3 star Hotel Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace). It's only a quarter to 7, so the light in the sky is still more dawn than day.
