In past captions I have referred to a sky which makes me immediately think of central and southern Italia. Specifically, this type of sky. It has a very close cousin here in Sydney Australia. Coincidentally, I'm writing this on a day when the temperature here went charging into the 30s Celsius and didn't look back, nor will it until around 2 AM tomorrow. And these are the kind of clouds that we have as I'm dictating this. They speak of an incredibly hot day, but they offer no relief from it. There are no cooling storms, no rain here. Occasionally they will be the precursor to more serious storm clouds, but not always. Their main purpose seems to be preventing the heat from radiating out into space overnight.
I've contrasted the soft fluffiness of the clouds against the harsh, straight lines of the superstructure of our ferry. The ferry itself will be hot enough from the heat of the day as well.
Although I have chosen this sky shot to be a representative of the Neapolitan sky, this shot was in fact taken just as we were leaving Capri. In later shots will see the grey sky over the port, but the foreground objects will distract from it.
