This is currently home to BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts). However prior to 1970 and dating back to around 1883 it was home to the Royal Institute Of Painters In Watercolours.
There are 8 busts of prominent water colourists along this wall of the building. All were sculpted by Edward Onslow Ford. In this shot we see 4 of them:
- Paul Sandby
- John Robert Cozens
- Thomas Girtin and of course, probably the most famous British watercolourist of all
- JMW Turner.
