Our trip to New Zealand had some wonderful moments. Unfortunately it had a lot of collateral damage too.
The wallet damage ended up being more than I expected.
And part of the reason for that was a trip that one of us took down an icy hill resulting in a high ankle sprain and... well, I wasn't the one who had my camera with me at the time.
Yyyeah. I was actually expecting to need to get a new lens and was massively relieved to see that they are priced considerably lower than they were when I bought this one way back when. However I spoke to Olympus Support this afternoon and they gave me a repair price of just over $400. And they assured me that it would be as good as new. Actually... it won't be far off new, needing a new barrel base, circuit board, 3G frame unit and outer frame unit. Still, PART of it will be what was with me on the tour to Italia last year.
I'm amazed it survived this. The E-M1 itself seems to have been relatively unscathed.
