The popular image of Tuscany is narrow (check) winding (check) laneways running through the countryside (more or less check). The paved footpath gives away the fact that this isn't completely rural, but nor is it urban. This is looking back toward our hotel, and there are other places of accommodation on both sides of the road. Hence the walls, and the crossing. There are no shops or other facilities around. On the other side of the coin there is a sheep farm on the far side of our hotel.
You may not expect street lights like this along a Tuscan laneway. But yes, they do exist. The place is still rustic but it doesn't live in the 19th century.
