Remember that leather jacket that I bought in Florence? Remember how the shop told me that I could get the tax free documentation stamped when I left Switzerland?
Remember how they lied about that?
Apparently the place that I should have had it stamped was here. I should in fact have figured why there was a reason for so many people to be lined up at what I assumed to be an inbound Customs office.
So if you are leaving Italy through Tirano and into Switzerland, and if you have bought any tax-free goods, do make a moment to visit this office. It's not that hard to find; it's just alongside the railroad tracks leading out of Italy.
And that's it for this gallery. Kind of. In fact at the time of writing I haven't yet posted the shots for Milano itself (those will appear up near the start when I do them), but it ends the story of our journey to the start of the Bernina Express on a hot, sometimes overcast Saturday in September 2016.
