As the trip wore on there were fewer and fewer people in our cabin. At this time we still had neighbours on the left hand side of our carriage, as the head in front of the window suggests. I therefore didn't have a clear shot until a few minutes later, when the people behind this guy packed up to get off at the following station (Morbengo). When I saw this town on the hill I had two choices; climb over the top of the people on that side and shoot through the window, or... just shoot through the window from where I was.
Obviously I went for option 2.
Then of course the question became... just where the heck IS that town?
From the photo stamp times I knew it was 7 minutes out of Colico and 5 minutes before Morbengo. Putting on my deerstalker cap and calling up Google Maps I guestimated the approximate location and Street-Viewed it down the SS38 until I found some towns with towers. After a couple of false starts I identified this with about a 99% accuracy; that would be the tower of the Chiesa Di San Georgio in Cino, a town of less than 400 people.
It may be small, but some of us notice it.
