This is a curious strip of street. It's regarded as being "Little Italy", though given that Carlton up the road is the true home of Italian in Melbourne perhaps Little Carlton may be more apt.
The red neon indicates Grossi Florentino, run by celebrity chef #3,917 Guy Grossi. (Can you boil an egg? Look good on camera? Look good on camera while boiling an egg and upload a video thereof to You Tube? Congratulations, you're a celebrity chef. Though from what I hear, Guy Grossi is, admittedly, way, WAY beyond egg boiling. It's the "celebrity chef" thing that I'm having a go at, not Grossi.)
Florentino has a grill downstairs which is cheapER but far from cheap (mains $38-$52), and an upstairs restaurant which is... not cheaper. Indeed the menu for upstairs lacks prices, though you can get 3 courses for $130 excluding beverages.
Apparently Bottega (one stop closer to us in this shot) is also owned by Grossi. It's your more typical mid-range Italian restaurant with mains in the $37-$41 range.
The menus for all three look nice. And I would probably go there, just for the experience. But I have a preferred alternative, just out of shot. And we'll come to that in the next shot.
