Granted this shot tells you no more, indeed marginally less about Chris' than the last shot, but it is such a choice place and since I liked the warm feel, I thought I'd throw it in anyway.
The trees outside sometimes harbour koalas which you can see while dining. Not on this particular night, though; the wind was howling up a gale outside and they had doubtless found themselves more secure locations to rest in.
Unfortunately this was the last evening of our all too short a time on The Great Ocean Road; the following morning it was time to head back to Melbourne. Although described as one of Australia's Great Drives, I didn't find it particularly enjoyable. It's tight, winding (often a problem with newer cars because of the need for thicker A pillars to accommodate the airbags), and with a fair amount of slow traffic. (And the occasional excessively fast idiot like the Beemer driver who kept shooting past cars over double lines (as he did with us) and around blind corners to make up an extra minute before getting stuck behind a semi trailer. I wouldn't want him splattered all over the road, but run up into an embankment with no injuries but a $55K repair bill? Yeah, that would have appealed to my sense of Schadenfreude.)
I suspect that it would be a more pleasant experience with more time (always more time...) and the ability to take the trip in stages. Apollo Bay doesn't seem that far on Google Maps, but the reality of the drive is rather different. I'm still looking forward to being there again, though.
