There are two major clocks suspended from the ceiling of the QVB. The one at the northern end, the Great Australian Clock, has appeared in a previous PAD. This one at the southern end of the building is the Royal Clock, manufactured by Thwaites & Reed of Hastings, England. On the hour it plays Jeremiah Clark's Trumpet Voluntary, and six scenes from English history appear in the windows facing the walkways. The scenes range from King Cnut supposedly trying to command the tide to halt (a rather disputed historical event, that one) through to the execution of Charles I.
In this case, though, it shows something far more important; the end of another working week, and the beginning of a new weekend.
