On a number of mornings I've seen this shop as I've passed by on the bus, and have always thought that the illuminated "tree" would make an interesting subject at night. Since I had to go into the city to run a few errands this Saturday morning anyway, I decided to swing by before dawn and grab it as my PAD.
The only thing is... for the first time ever they had some of the interior shop lights on as well. I have no idea why, no-one was at home as far as I could see, but obviously it meant that the "tree" wouldn't have a dark background.
Now whether it worked out better with you being able to see the clothes as a backdrop (albeit just a bit outside the depth of field since I opened up almost as far as the lens would go)... I guess we'll never know, until or unless I go back to shoot another one over the course of the winter.
