"I see a red door and I want it painted white,
No colours any more, that sky looks quite a fright!
I see the smog float by, clouds look like garlic cloves,
I have to hold my breath until a strong wind blows!"
(With apologies to Messrs. M. Jagger and K. Richards.)
Light winds and high moisture content combined with smoke from a 300 hectare fire hazard burn-off at Linden in the Blue Mountains to cast a white shroud over the city this morning. (At least, it was white when you looked straight into it where the sun was hitting it. Look up and it gets a bit dirtier looking.) A number of flights had to be diverted to Melbourne and Brisbane.
This resulted in a sky which was, let us be blunt, flat out weird-looking as the morning sun tried to penetrate it.
