6930 Princess' Theatre And Tram

Short of having a shot with the Yarra in it, you probably can't get too much more iconically Melbourne (a city famed for its theatres) than this.

The Princess' Theatre (or at least this one, there was one before it) was built in Spring Street near Parliament House 1886. It had fallen into disrepair by the 1980's when it was finally refurbished, reopening in 1989.

Reputedly haunted by the friendly ghost of Federici, who died of a heart attack in 1888 after a performance of the Opera, ‘Faust’. A seat in the Dress Circle is left empty for him every opening night, and it's regarded as a sign of good luck if there is a sighting of him on that night. Hey, don't look at me, it's what the theatre management claims.

Passing in front in a motion blurred but not really ghost-like fashion is one of Melbourne's new(ish) C2 class ("Bumblebee") trams which have been running on route 96 from East Brunswick to St Kilda Beach since 2008.
