"This pillar of stone quarried from Stawell was placed here on the insistence of The Hon. John Woods M.P. ...to express his indignation of the choice of New South Wales stone for Parliament House and to show the enduring qualities of local stone".
I'm trying to think how much I'd care if Victorian stone was chosen to construct a public building in Sydney.
Still thinking.
Nope, not there yet.
Well, it's good to see that parliamentarians, even in the 19th century, were busy getting on with what we pay them for, like running the state / country just as they do today. Gods forbid that they should spend their time playing "gotcha" with their opponents and grandstanding, then where would we be?
Sense of priorities, you don't haz them.
