About 25-27 million years ago, massive volcanoes were active in this region of S.E.Queensland,
Australia, and as the volcanoes became dormant, large 'plugs' of molten rock cooled and solidified.
With time, the surrounding soils have eroded, leaving the plugs as tombstone
reminders of a more violent past. You can read more about it HERE.
I saw this sky as I was driving past the area, and thought that this must be only a pale
imitation of what it was like when so many active volcanoes were erupting, way back in the
Aboriginal 'Dreamtime'. Sadly, a disappearing sun allowed me to include only one of the seven major plugs.
