Cloves are very popular in Indonesia. In addition to some cakes or dishes, cloves are used for making clove cigarettes (rokok kretek). The presence of cloves bits makes a low level of cracking noise during smoking. It is very popular in Indonesia where I believe the only country that smokes clove cigarettes. Cloves are dried out in open places under the sun near public street in less urbanized area of Manado.
