1971 MONTE CARLO 914-6 GT
The Monte Carlo Rally 914-6 GT cars had the parking brake lever relocated between the seats and the center tunnel was also reinforced https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/88612422. The additional reinforcement bracket was incorporated in order to eliminate flexing of the parking lever support-bracket and eliminating any potential loss of travel while actuating the parking-brake lever. This set-up insured a more positive brake response to the driver. Interesting to note that the Nurburgring 914-6 GT cars also had this rally parking brake arrangement https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/88612423.NURBURGRING 914-6 GT
Take a look at this photo https://pbase.com/9146gt/image/88612429 and note the colored arrows. The parking brake lever of this GT was in fact modified. The lever appears to be made-up in sections, made longer (Purple Arrow) for increase leverage. It was also reinforced (Green Arrow) and a new shorter mounting bracket was fabricated (Red Arrow). The lever also has a 'pawl and rachet' system different from the factory 914-6 and some 911s (Blue Arrow). Can you identify the pawl-rachet used in this lever? If so, please email me at ajserrano@msn.com - Thanks!
