Amsterdam Through American Eyes

Here is a selection of images taken during a 6 day jaunt to Amsterdam (and Apenheul) with my son in August, 2007. Amsterdam proved to be a great starter city for this American's first trip to Europe. The residents all spoke English and were gracious and friendly towards us both. All week my son and I talked of how comfortable the city felt to us. The museums, canals, architecture and history make Amsterdam a must-see city on the continent................and don't forget those delicious Dutch pancakes.

Isn't it funny though how you long back to Dutch pancakes whereas to us there is nothing like North American pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup... :-)

Being Dutch myself I'm alway curious how foreigners experience a city like Amsterdam. I've noticed in your gallerie that you really enjoyed yourself. I'm glad you did. Come back another time. Besides Amsterdam there are more beautiful cities to explore. Alkmaar, Utrecht, Edam, Enkhuizen and Hoorn.

I gotta agree with your assessment of the city. I loved it there! I've been back about 6 times since my first visit. It's perhaps my favorite European city. Nice shots, btw.
