Americans have a love affair with dogs and you wouldn't think twice about seeing a doghouse out in the suburban front yard. But a house for your pet goats in the front yard would get your attention. On our bus ride to the Apenheul Monkey Zoo in Apeldoorn, we couldn't help but notice that some of the homes had manicured front yards with perfect landscaping while other homeowners had corraled livestock pens in front of the house. No matter what type or style of house or yard, the vast majority were meticulously maintained.
