Overwhelmed

Warner Park in Western Davidson County, TN

When you get about 20" of rain in a 32 hour span,
the earth literally changes before your eyes. In
places that have remained dry for your blip of a
life you find lakes. Homes always viewed as safe
from flooding are overtaken with rising water and
even completely swept away with lifelong memories
in tow. Places that have provided peaceful walks
and family hikes turn into moving violent torrents
of mud, rock and trees when overwhelmed by huge
amounts or moisture separating soil from rock with
a viscous layer.

I have also added today a NOAA map showing both the
concentration (inches) of rain from this event and
the ARI (Average Recurrence Intervals) map to the
2010 Flood Gallery:

Great documentation. I find 20 inches of rain in 32 hours unimaginable. What a deluge.

Unreal. But the sad thing is that it isn't. We have hardley seen any coverage of this on our News. I have learned more from your galleries and videos than what the local news networks have broadcast

Odd the weather since almost 2 years, usually we are the one getting all the rain. It is so dry here, that all my walks in the wood are done on dry moss, even after a brief shower. Even the migthy St-Lawrence river is at its lowest since 40 years.

Wow, the damage water can do. I'm just glad you and yours got through it safely and no one was harmed. I know I was praying hard when I heard about this.

It becomes so impossible to believe but the evidence later is frightening!
