The muskox can defend itself against almost any predator. The notable exception is a human with a rifle. The basic muskox defense is to stand fast facing an attacker. As a Fish and Game guy in Kotzebue once said to me, "shooting a musk ox is like walking up to this file cabinet and pulling the trigger."
