The Head Table
At the chess tournament at Sveti Stefan in 1992 Bobby Fischer, second right, faced off against Boris Spasski, second left. The opening night ceremonies were spectacular, escpecially considering they were in the middle of a war. In the center of the table is Gazda Jezda, the man who sponsored the event. He was wanted on numerous charges in Europe. Thanks to connections with Milosevich he didn't have to worry about extradition. Fisher's date is a Hungarian teenage grandmaster. I spent two weeks at the tournament and it was something else.
