Selawik fans celebrate in the Kotzebue gym during a playoff game. Attending a game in Kotzebue means a 100 mph-plus snow machine ride down from the village under the Aurora in temperatures of -30 or colder. Riding with the fans to and from Arctic hoops is to northerners what cafe racing on motorcycles is to urban dwellers in the lower 48. Except in the Arctic it's a lot faster and there's a lot more fur.
