With a crane and a cat the tug AKU, belonging to Crowley Marine, is launched for the season. The AKU lighters fuel from the offshore tanker, 12 miles out, in to the Crowley tank farm at Kotzebue, and also takes fuel upriver to villages on the Noatak River. In September it comes back out for the winter.
