This bald eaglet hatched this spring and when the photo was taken had just started to fly. I call his family The Cranes because their nest is in the mast of a large blue crane parked near my apartment. They raised just one eaglet this year but he's a healthy one. Or maybe she's a healthy one. In Unalaska eagles are like sparrows elsewhere. They're everywhere. You look on the veranda and there are two of them perched there, just like sparrows except they're three feet tall.
