Do Bumble Bees Play?

Or do they just take joy in their work?
In the back garden there was this Bumble Bee
moving flower to flower it would get in the Poppy
and roll around like an excited puppy.
I wondered if this was a particularly happy bee
or do they all do it. All the black and gold bees do,
but they all look happy too, and I think that's great!
Happy pollinators, happy garden!

That's a good question. Either way, this is an excellent shot of it in a suitably color matching flower. ~BV~

It certainly appears to be the proverbial BUSY BEE. Good catch.John

A wonderful shot. The bee really stands out against the flower. I like to think that they're having fun pollinating. "V"

A beautiful golden summer shot with happy bumble bees finding the pollen. Bumble bees have a distinctive way of getting the pollen onto themselves called "buzz pollination", essentially doing what you saw which looks like they are "rolling and tumbling" with fun. V
