Breakfast!
It really is the most important meal of the day
I spend more time fixing breakfast than
all the other meals of the day combined.
I love summer because I can go out to the garden
and go shopping! Looking for the daily special.
While there I check out next weeks specials
and look out for interruptions in the supply chain.
See if I need to expand the inventory.
While I'm there I enjoy the open air market.
Gardening in the coastal northwest marks time well.
Going out in winter is just a weather report and slim pickings
It’s either wet and cold or cold and wet, sometimes with snow.
In the spring it’s the birds working on raising a brood
interspersed with raptors, raccoons, and the morning moon rise.
Summer it’s waking up and heading out to see what's for breakfast.
The morning cool on the skin is refreshing though sometimes I
actually put something on before I go out to the garden.
Fall comes like a flick of a switch and you can feel it in the air.
The up side is that in October the garlic gets planted
and the cycle starts over. Grow, pick, eat, enjoy, repeat.
