It’s a Good Day…

…When a friend sends you some books!
It’s a bonus when you learn something from
them the first time you browse through the pages.
Makes the gift even more special than it already is.
They have a spot of honer
tucked in my grandfathers tool box.
The tool box made from timber harvested
from his land in the Blue Ridge and sawn at a water powered mill.
The wide oak planks were hauled back to the farm by wagon.
It was made back when your tool box was your resume
and his is a thing of beauty, like a piece of furniture.
It is full of the tools of his trade as a builder and bricklayer.
It also has the blacksmithing and miscellanies tools from the farm.
There seems to be a hammer for everything!
There is also a collection of all the other things that
land in a tool box that seemed common then but are rare now.
I don’t ask how or why fate appointed me to be it’s keeper,
but it is the one thing handed down to me that I value deeply.
So the books have good companions in their new home.
Thanks Neil.

It was a surprise to see those books on pbase. After reading about your grandfathers toolbox it deserves a photo for me to see. You are fortunate to know about your family background and having something personal as a memento.
