Entrance

Found a ground hive of yellow jackets out
in a rough area on the edge of the backyard.
Glad I did because we sometimes we pick blackberries back there
and if you have inadvertently stood on top of a ground hive, you’ll never do it again.
Decided to leave them alone because it has large numbers
so there must be plenty of food for them!
They are good to have around for pest control,
but these are the kind you want to give some space.

Sometimes there's no substitute for a long lens.

Love this fine shot - a peek into the busy lives of creatures who would prefer us to leave them alone! V

Space is the key word here. Cool shot though.

Good to be aware...good that you saw them.
