Part of my garlic crop dries under a cover to keep the rain off.
Last winter I planted garlic 3 times about a month apart starting
in December putting in about 200 feet of row all together.
The challenge of growing it here is to not let it get to wet in the winter.
The same racks used to keep the rain off the harvest are used to cover
the raised planting beds for the wettest part of winter.
I am trying to see if I can grow and store a years worth of garlic.
Why? To see if I can and we love garlic!
Every meal has some garlic in it and when the
scapes come up it is the meal!
When it is fresh picked you can peel a hand full and eat it
like candy because it doesn’t get really hot until it cures.
My wife asked if I grew enough?
I don’t know!
I’ll let you know next year!
