16th November

the wind is from the north but we are sheltered by the mountains giving a crisp, dry sunny day.

its half day on the island on wednesdays,

Reminds me of sun gazing, which I only recently found out about.

The heated debate-ness!

hahahahaha!! Collapse of stout party
Guest 17-Nov-2005 17:30
No I think he knew well what he was talking about. I'll take that as an admission that you don't though :-)
Guest 17-Nov-2005 16:48
Much as i would like to continue this debate,i do have other things to do..I would just add that you and i both know that the author was reffering to the hills around Bute.So i will bid you goodby untill you find the need to come to the lads asistance again..
Guest 17-Nov-2005 14:24
So, the statement above '... the wind is from the north but we are sheltered by the mountains...' is indeed correct, and you yourself were either not paying attention or are ignorant of such things.
Guest 17-Nov-2005 14:18
au contraire, when the wind is from the north, the range of mountains to which Ben Nevis belongs does indeed create the rain shadow effect to the area south, as explained below, Even as far as Glasgow.
Guest 17-Nov-2005 14:13
I dont think Ben Nevis will give much shelter to Bute. Please read before you answer
Guest 17-Nov-2005 14:07
Rain shadow effect...
The result of the process by which moist air on the windward side of a mountain rises and cools, causing precipitation and leaving the leeward side of the mountain dry.

Now, 'guest 1', I know you are only posting your silly comments to have a go at Zak, but you are only in fact revealing your own ignorance. Somebody of your advanced years really ought to know better ;-)

Nice, shame to see that the 'taggers' can afford the price of a ferry ticket and spread their disease across the water (window, top right).
Guest 17-Nov-2005 14:01
As usual? The name of a mountain north of Bute? 'Ben Nevis' I believe is north of Bute. Perhaps you are looking at things in a small minded parochial way. Why not broaden your mind a little.
Guest 17-Nov-2005 13:31
Dear Guest 2,,as usual you are not reading the comments correctly..I would like very much to know of a mountain in the vicinity of Bute.Just a name will do..As to the North wind?I certainly did not think it Came from the South,East or West.I am a deal further North than Bute and dont see any mountains
Guest 17-Nov-2005 12:12
Dear other Guest. It may interest you to know that there are indeed plenty of mountains to the north. I suggest you look at an atlas. Where do you think the north wind comes from? Just up the road???

Gosh it must be cold - but the sunrays must feel good. A really nice shot...
Jackdad16-Nov-2005 23:46
humourous capture of the folks having a snooze. If you tried that round here, you'd get your handbag nicked!

Living in a country of 7 day a week, late night & in some cases 24/7 shopping, half day closing is a fantastic idea. The trio really are soaking up the rays...

If it wasn't for the winter clothing you wouldn't know how cold it is.
northstar3716-Nov-2005 17:58
