A beautiful view. A shame about the demolition of the landmark, but maintenance of old buildings does guzzle money. :-/

Looks like a nice day for demolition

Don't blame the planners! While it's a pity to see an item go, those unhappy should remember that abandoned structures becomes derelict. If they REALLY want to keep them, they should pay the annual upkeep to maintain the structure's integrity. The sad FACT is that buildings begin to decay the day they're left, and ultimately fall down if not taken down, as seen in the town centre, where no-one's been hit by falling bits, yet. Unfortunately, we live in the REAL world. Pay its bills, and you can have any building you want left standing.

oh that's not good, I thought they were keeping this and adding flats nearby??? is there no place for history in this country.....our planners should take a holiday in Tuscany and then they would appreciate some of our gorgeous old buildings rather than demolish them x

This is a beautiful shot, Zak. I think the World Order's premise is to destroy everything "good" of the past. It's happening in New Orleans as well.
