"Wild Card"
My final entry for the May Challenge, a wild card, my favourite type of photography
flowers + photoshop. Thank you Mairead and Laine for inviting me to join this Challenge.

"Low POV"
I had to get down to Flossie's level to get this shot, made a lot of duds in the
process, not easy at our age, she was stretched out by the fire keeping warm on
a cold miserable day that was foggy the entire daylight hours.

"Streetscape"
Actually a walking lane/bike trail that is very popular in Clare

"Wide Angle"
Not really, but as near as I can for this topic. Note the dog "Flossie"
on the wood pile, and the carpet of leaves from the Ginkgo tree after
we had a blowy night. Part of the view from our front gate

"Nature"
Hope this qualifies for "Nature" - its a specially devised walkway through
a garden that supplies food that our first people ate before the Europeans
arrived in Australia. This sort of fits in with yesterday's "Reconciliation Day"
for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to be recognised in the
proud history of our lands. I discovered this sign when we were having
lunch at Pauletts Winery, Clare Valley... unfortunately I didn't get
to walk the path into the garden, it was time for us to leave.

"An Exhibition, Indoors or Outdoors"
Driving into Burra a quiet little town with so much history, first stop TOWN HALL.
They have an excellent Historic Photographic Exhibition of the area Photos of years gone by,
memorabilia of the huge floods they encountered over the years also,
heaps of photos of previous Mayors. They also had the best Rams in the country
and farmers would pay huge amounts of money to buy a Ram.
The Town Hall was also a Theatre with an old projector room,it was also used for dancing,
movies, receptions for weddings special occasions and so on.

"Macro"
Using the lens I always use for flowers and sometimes portraits, the Tamron.

"Landscape"
Photo taken from the balcony at Paulett's winery where we had lunch earlier this month.
About 1 ½ hours drive north from Adelaide is the beautiful Polish Hill River sub-region of the Clare Valley ,
home to Neil and Alison Paulett and their winery. The Polish Hill River region was named after the Polish Settlers of the mid 1800's.
The area is blessed with a climate ideal for premium grape growing and the combination of consistently good winter rains,
hot summers tempered by cool nights and a long ripening period produces grapes of exceptional flavours and balance.

"Patterns"
The Jeanerette winery also dabbles in beer making, and they had this
nicely arranged display of their beer which I think fits the requisite of
"Patterns" both in the shape of the bottle and how they are arranged, I
hope you think it fits the subject too!

"Sports (adults, children, fun, professional)"
This little 3-year old has just started ballet classes and is enjoying
the opportunity of dressing up in ballet clothes and shoes... here she is
showing us one of the steps she has learned so far.
We have some sports grandsons who play football and complete in various athletics, but
due to injury are out of the scene right now.

"Food (Styled)"
The birthday cake for our dear friend who turned 80 on Thursday.

"Leading Lines"
We've been down the Southern Vales today and the colours were magnificent,
especially when we turned to drive into the "Battle of Bosworth Winery" gates
and discovered this delightful sight of trees and vines in autumn colour.
My cousins came too, one of them being a 101 year old. Firstly we stopped
at the "Old Bush Inn" in Willunga for a hearty lunch then decided to take
them onto the back roads to see how pretty the countryside looked at this
time of year.

"Architecture"
The little miners cottage we stayed in during our time in the Clare Valley
Here is another angle of the same cottage,

"Sepia toned"
Photo taken in a little boutique winery in the Clare Valley wine growing district
of South Australia.

"Portrait of a pet"
This young pup belongs to our granddaughter, it wasn't an easy shot to
get as pups are on the move continuously...I had to wait until she was
getting tired, as she was in this shot.

"Street Photography"
A photo taken while walking the streets looking for a cafe in Burra..
we were in luck thankfully! Notice the huge gutters they have in
this little old mining town!

"Contrasting Colours"
It is Mother's Day here today in Australia, and a lovely surprise awaited
our return yesterday, organised by my sons in San Francisco was this
delightfully colourful bouquet of flowers! Plenty of contrasting colours
here so I hope it is an okay entry for this topic!

"An Unusual Perspective"
Included in the May Challenge, this photo was taken of a plaque on
the corner of the Town Hall in Burra, and the name belongs to
my great-great-grandfather who was an important man in this little
mining township.

"Water"
A small stream flowing through the old copper mining town of Burra
in the mid-north of the state of South Australia.

"Black and White"
My entry for this topic, friends we went on holiday with. We'had perfect
weather the whole 4 days... blue skies and temps around 20dC daily
Some of the photos taken will suit this Challenge quite well I think!
02-MAY-2017
"Abstract"
I always like to play around with a failed image, they don't always work
but are so much fun creating. This one began as mist over the distant hills.
We will be away for a few days and I will endeavour catching up later in the week.

"Shallow DOF"
Our glory vine is changing colour, and with the back lighting took my eye
today, hopefully it passes the test of "shallow depth of Field"
03-MAY-2017
"Flowers"
This is a photo of "Correa" a native fuchsia that does well in our area. We
have various types of correa growing and all are in flower right now.

"Reportage or a photo which tells a story"
I think this will qualify, its a story of celebration, the group
are all aged between 70 and 90, and the star was celebrating his
80th birthday, the 2nd one for the year for us, and we have a third
80th happening later this month. The gentleman in a blue top is 90.
02-MAY-2017
"Wildlife"
Two galahs waiting their turn for the seed dish, sitting on a dead
section of a tree, which birds seem to love. They didn't seem to
mind me with the camera and lens walking towards them for this shot.
Happy to say that my camera and lens worked perfectly today, if you
remember I had problems with this combination over the Easter break.

Still Life - as in product shot
It was a matter of luck that I was working on this image today, then
went to check the FORUM to discover that the image might just fit
this topic. Consider it as an ad for a rose.
